Five things that excite me

It’s a cold, dreary day here in Hooterville; one of those days that remind me that full-fledged winter is hurtling towards us with the speed of a teenager with a new car.  For those of you who followed my now-defunct blog “Other Pages,” you know how much I detest winter.  For those of you who never saw/read “Other Pages,” suffice it to say that I have a real hate/hate relationship with winter.  Maybe it’s because I was born in January.  Perhaps I have a deeply repressed memory of being taken home from the hospital and having a blast of icy wind hit my little face before my mom could get the blanket pulled up over me.  Whatever the reason, I tend to go into a little funk this time of year.

I’m going to try a different approach this winter.  Instead of railing about the cold, the rain, the (I really hate to say it) snow, I’ll attempt to keep myself in a better frame of mind by focusing on the positive.  I began this new approach by sitting down this morning and listing five things that have me excited.  It appears to be working since I’m no longer tromping around snarling at the weather app on my phone.

So here they are: Five Things That Excite Me!

5.  Sharla Lovelace’s book BEFORE AND EVER SINCE will be released tomorrow!  I adore the way Sharla writes and can’t wait for this book to land on my Kindle so I can start devouring it.

4.  My beloved Arkansas Razorbacks won on Saturday.  Hey, with the season we’ve been having it’s downright thrilling that we were able to beat a non-SEC team.  I take my college football thrills where I can get ’em.

3.  Light and Shade: Conversations with Jimmy Page by Brad Tolinski.  This book is a joy and I’ve had my head stuck deep into it for most of the weekend.  (Also, HUGE thanks to S.A. Hussey for reminding me the book had been released since I had totally forgotten about it!)

2.  My brother will be re-installing Photoshop on my computer sometime this week.  This ties in with another exciting event – my first “official” author photo which my daughter took yesterday during a fun photo shoot.  Though she did an outstanding job making me look fit to be seen, as they say around here, I still see some Photoshopping in my future.

1.  I’m close to completing my second novel and just this morning I got the idea for my third book. I love it when that happens!

So in spite of the change in the weather, I’m one excited babe today!
